Finally! A Lead!

Documentary Updates:

I have taken the last few days to edit the documentary so far. I have yet to get around to journaling much.

New Things:

Some surprising news was announced today.

A NEW LEAD is going to be investigated!

When I arrived at the police station, I sat in my office, and Sherif Myers greeted me.

He pulled me into his office. I sat opposite him in the big leather chair. I could feel myself sinking into it.

Lately, I haven't been the most cheery. Most of the time, my attention and brain wander to this case.

But today, I sat in the chair, and Sherif Myers played me a voicemail. In this voicemail, an older woman called Barbara George reports that a man named Everett Gale Bowers could be involved.

After some digging, the sheriff and I believe he murdered Barbara's sister-in-law, Crystal George.

She was murdered in March of 1972 by shooting and stabbing.

He was arrested on April 13, 1972. THREE DAYS BEFORE JOYCE'S BODY WAS FOUND.

The link to an in-depth discussion about Bowers and the murder is linked here:

Crystal's body was dumped in a trench about five miles from town.

Furthermore, Bowers lived in Moscow, Idaho. Joyce had many connections to the area with her skydiving classes.

Bruce LePage came to the office today, and I was eager to tell him the updates.

We discussed the case with Bowers and found that he was moved to a contract prison in Arizona.

A phone call interview will be scheduled Monday, April 25, or Tuesday, April 26.

I will share updates as soon as I learn anything.

Personal Log and Mental Notes:

I KNEW WE WOULD GET SOMETHING!

I had a feeling that something would come up. This guy is a serious bad guy. I am trying not to get my hopes up. I am trying not to. But how does one not get excited when the research they have compiled assists in a new lead in a 50-year-old cold case?

I am 19 and investigating a murder case. Discussing the case details with the sheriff and her brother makes this real to me. It feels surreal. I don't think Joyce will be forgotten.

One can hope that this case will be resolved soon.
